Be a part of the bigger picture!

SkyDayProject is a global citizen artwork designed to bring us all together in support of our one, shared sky. Every sky photo posted is a statement by the sender that they care about our sky and want us to come together across cultures and borders to protect it for the benefit of all. Now Go Green Wilmette is inviting YOU to take part and help create a special Go Green Wilmette sky gallery within the mosaic. You will be joining schools, artists, scientists and responsible organizations all over the world - including astronauts on the International Space Station - who right now are sending in their sky photos from all over the world and from space. But that’s not all because you will also be helping SkyDay build an extraordinary library of sky photos to form the basis of a free, interactive educational platform on all things sky at the same time. So join in! All you have to do is take a few moments to look up, reconnect to our amazing sky, reflect on how beautiful and dynamic it is and on how much we all rely on it every day while you document its dynamic changes in photography. Make it your own. No-one sees the sky quite like you do. Just remember our ONE golden rule. Make sure your sky photo is ALL sky - NOTHING else, (For reference see our short video ‘Easy Guidelines fo Taking SkyDayProject Sky Photos’ below). Then post your sky photos to the Go Green Wilmette gallery by either uploading it directly to the SkyDayProject.org website or by Tweeting them with BOTH hashtags #SkyDayProject ##SkyDayWilmette. There’s no limit to how many you may submit.

Any rules for taking the sky photos?
Yes!  Make sure your photo is ALL sky!  (Day skies, night skies, clouds, eclipses, moons.... and everything in between).  BUT no people, lamp posts, mountains, horizons, trees ...you get the idea!  (See our video 'Easy Guidelines for taking SkyDayProject Sky Photos' —->)  Photos must be JPEG format.How do we view SkyDayProject and find the Go Green Wilmette gallery in it?
SkyDayProject is live and interactive at skydayproject.org. New photos are arriving all the time. Change how it looks by clicking on the 'Refine Gallery' button top left.  Find the Go Green Wilmette group in the drop down menu. 

Our Organization
Artist Ben Whitehouse created SkyDay to bring people of all ages together to learn about our sky, how it functions and what it's vulnerabilities are and promote a new level of ecological citizenship. He is joined in this effort by NASA astronaut and artist Nicole Stott, Northwestern University Climate Scientist Daniel Horton, University of Illinois Professor of Atmospheric Science and Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC  (a panel that was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007!) Don Wuebbles and British spoken word artist and scientist Sam Illingworth.  With the input of talented artists, scientists, parents, educators, writers, child development experts and social scientists we are building an interactive educational platform to offer teachers, parents and kids imaginative lesson plans, inspiring ideas, great articles, innovative projects, forums for discussion and exciting opportunities for international collaboration.
