View our SkyDayProject - Let’s go! video (below) to learn more before you start to draw or paint or take sky photos.
A place to experience the sky! Windows at home are great for this! Ask your teacher for advice about where.
Take a sky photo or make a drawing or a painting of the sky above you. make it your own. No-one sees the sky quite like you do!
Remember this our ONE GOLDEN RULE. Make it all about the sky! No trees, buildings, people…you get the idea! If you are taking a sky photo you may want to zoom in or crop it so its JUST SKY!
You may need to ask an adult to help you upload your sky art or sky photo.
Go to www.skydayproject.org, click on the Upload Photos button top right. and then chose the Sky Gallery your teacher want you to post to.
Click on the photos you want to upload and you’re done!
Tips for a successful Sky Day!
Sky Days are a Celebration of our dynamic sky and an opportunity to reflect on how precious it is to all of us. Our sky supports all life and protects us from the harshness of space. It is the air we breathe and the water we drink and by wrapping completely around our planet as it does our sky connects us all as one global family, living and breathing under one, shared sky. it only stands to reason we should take great care of it for each other.
Request your own free gallery in the mosaic. Having your own gallery is a great way to share their work with family and friends! Sign up for your here.
Provide a good, safe place for your artists to observe and photograph the sky. And be sure to remind everyone NOT to look at the sun!
Have a rain date in mind just in case!
Please send us photos of your event and we’ll post them on our Sky Day Events page. You can see some of our other events there too like our installations on the International Space Station, at the Chicago Botanic Garden and at the Adler. Check it out at SkyDayProject.com/events

Our Organization
Artist Ben Whitehouse founded OnlyOneSky to bring people of all ages together to learn about our sky, how it functions and what it's vulnerabilities are and bring people together in a new spirit of ecological citizenship. He is joined in this effort by NASA astronaut and artist Nicole Stott, Northwestern University Climate Scientist Daniel Horton, University of Illinois Professor of Atmospheric Science and Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC (a panel that was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007!) Don Wuebbles and poet, performer and scientist Sam Illingworth. With the input of talented artists, scientists, parents, educators, writers, child development experts and social scientists we are building SkyDay as an interactive educational platform to offer teachers, parents and kids imaginative lesson plans, inspiring ideas, great articles, innovative projects, forums for discussion and exciting opportunities for international collaboration.
